What We Do

Better Health Abroad is an organization that facilitates the delivery of patients to health care rather than health care to patients. Nowadays, in the most industrialized nations in the world, high labor costs as well as increased regulations and bureaucracy have pushed up health care costs for residents of those countries. These factors also lead to a longer wait time for complex procedures. Even so, the increased costs and waiting do not always translate to higher quality care. Several other developed nations around the world including India, Singapore, and Thailand among others are able to offer the same or better quality care at a significantly lower cost without the wait. These countries offer state of the art private facilities employing skilled physicians and staff. If patients are in need of complex procedures from cardiac surgery and joint replacement to dental and cosmetic surgery, our company can arrange that, often at a fraction of the cost of obtaining the same care locally. We plan every aspect of care including travel, accommodations, the patient’s procedure, and post-procedure care. We can even arrange extra time for vacation if the patient desires. In the end the patient saves time and money with the same or better outcomes.

Who We Serve

Our company primarily serves patients from the most industrialized nations in the world, including the United States, Canada, Japan, and several European countries. Even so, customers from anywhere in the world are welcome to try our service. Because of the nature of our service, our customer base is very diverse. We serve a lot of very sick and elderly people who don’t have the money or time to wait for the complex procedures they need to increase both quantity and quality of life. Conversely, we also work with healthy people of all ages looking to have elective procedures done below the prohibitive costs of their local providers. In most cases, we work directly with patients who find us through referrals from friends or physicians. In some rare instances, we will work through insurance companies who will present our product to patients as a more affordable alternative to local care.

About Us

Better Health Abroad is headquartered in Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. Most of our business is conducted online and by phone, and we employ approximately 200 people at our headquarters. The majority of these people provide customer service to patients, but we also employ several liaisons to speak with patients’ physicians and insurance companies. Additionally, our facilities house a modest legal department. Finally we employ a small department responsible for arranging both travel and accommodations for our patients during their travel abroad.

In addition to our local operations, we have multiple international partners in the countries where our services are provided. These partners are usually privately funded health care providers, and we routinely send quality assurance inspectors from our headquarters to our facilities around the world. As the cost and inefficiency of health care continue to rise in the industrial nations in the world, we will continue to ease the burdens on these systems while providing better care to patients.

Is this really cheaper (I guess I should say would it be, even with the cost of airfare? And do you have international clients as well? It sounds like an intriguing idea!
